Pray for Long Life and Great Relationships at this Shrine

For 800 years, from the Kamakura Period to the Edo Period, people from commoners to warriors, including one of the three greats of the Warring States Period, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, came to Taga Taisha [Shrine] to pray. Just in front of Kintetsu Railways' Taga Taisha Station stands a massive Shinto torii [gate], behind which lies the road to the shrine along with numerous souvenir shops. A particular favorite of this spot are the Taga Itokiri Rice Cakes, which are said to ward off evil spirits, and the "Long Life" Soba Noodles.
