The Little Village That's a World Heritage Site

Gokayama has been referred to as a "primal scene" of Japan and UNESCO recognized Gokayama as a World Heritage Site for its collection of thatched-roof houses. The houses were built to withstand the snowy environments of Gokayama. Visiting Gokayama is a great chance to experience traditional singing and dancing as well. Get a taste of life as it was 100 years ago and try out the most famous local dish, Gokayama Tofu.
