The two shopping streets are located in front of Atami Station, named Nakamise and Heiwa-dori. The streets are littered with many long-established stores that have been in business for over 60 years. Unlike at a shopping mall here you will find many unique small shops where you can enjoy Japanese-style shopping experience. Not only are there restaurants, cafes, sushi shops, and dried fish shops, but also souvenir shops with many items from the Izu Peninsula. Taking a walk while eating onsen manju (温泉まんじゅう-a sweet bun sold in hot springs) is recommended. Why don't you start your trip here or enjoy shopping before heading home?
