After climbing up 173 steps, you will see an amazing view of the Gero city. The Yakushi Nyorai statue associated with the legend of Gero Onsen is enshrined here. There is also the Yukake Yakushi statue that is said to heal you if you pour hot water over the statue. Since many people have visited Gero Onsen for therapeutic reasons, ema (good luck placard) written by visitors from many years ago remain even to this day. The temple is also lit-up in autumn evenings.
