A Three-Star Castle and a National Treasure

Matsumoto Castle is the oldest of Japan's national treasure castles. To accomdate its weapons, the castle has countless windows. The main tower, built during Japan's Warring States Period, along with the turrets that were built in peacetime, come together to form a castle with different building styles. This difference is one of the castle's defining features. The contrast between black and white sections of the castle is beautiful and the backdrop of the Japanese Alps completes the scene.
