The Last Remaining Home of an Edo Period Governor

The Takayama Jinya was home and office to the regional governor of the area during the Edo Period and was designated a national treasure in 1929 and was in use until 1969. It was restored to its Edo period condition in 1996.

Take Machinami Bus(counterclockwise) from Takayama Nouhi Bus Center to Takayama Historical Government House. (8m) BUS Route 2 Take Highway bus (Nouhi, Meitetsu, or JR) at Meitetsu Bus Center (3F, platform 7) to Takayama. (2h and 30m). Go to Nouhi Bus Center after taking Norikuraguchi (east) exit at Takayama station. Take Machinami Bus (counterclockwise) from Takayama Nouhi Bus Center to Takayama Historical Government House. (8m) *You can walk to Takayama Historical Government House (15m) after taking Norikuraguchi (east) exit at Takayama station.
