A Morning Market with a History Stretching Back to the Edo Period
Every monring in front of the Takayama Jinya, around 30 tents pop up and together create one of Japan's Three Great Morning Markets. With histories that extend back to the Edo Period, the morning market and the former government building that exists as its backdrop, it's a bit like stepping back in time. Fresh fruits and vegetables can be found along with locally-picked flowers and traditional handicrafts on sale as well. With just a short 7-minute walk from Takayama Station, it's a popular spot amongst travelers. Open until noon.
