Toyotomi Hideyoshi's Castle Reborn as a Museum

Nagahama Castle was built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, one of Japan's three greatest generals, when he was 36 years old. The only remaining parts of the castle were its foundation, but it was recently reconstructed. The inside of the castle is a museum where you can learn all about the Hideyoshi, along with the religion, culture and history of the Nagahama area. The castle town around Nagahama Castle includes a number of traditional buildings commonly referred to as the "Black-Walled Square" where you can enjoy glass art and an action figure museum.
