Kurokabe Square

（黒壁スクエア)

Kurokabe Square is a popular tourist destination in the old town of Nagahama, and full of many historical buildings. The area features traditional black stucco Japanese architecture and consists of many generically named buildings: Kurokabe Building 1 through Kurokabe Building 30. Each building is made up of museums, galleries, glass workshops, cultural institutions, restaurants, and cafes and they are built in a variety of architectural styles from the Edo to Meiji Era. The area is also known as the largest glass art exhibition area in Japan.

Directions	JR Take the train from Nagoya Station on the Tokaido/Sanyo Shinkansen to Maibara Station, about 30 minutes. Then take the JR Biwa Line from Maibara Station to Nagahama Station, about 10 minutes. It's an 11-minute walk from the station. JR Take the JR Tokaido Main Line from Nagoya Station to Maibara Station, about 1 hour 15 minutes. Then take the JR Hokuriku Main Line from Maibara Station to Nagahama Station, about 5 minutes. It's an 11-minute walk from the station.
