A Symbol of Romanic Love

700 meters off the coast of Mie sits a pair of large rocks referred to as Fuufu-iwa [married couple rock]. The larger 9-meter-tall rock is considered to be the man and the smaller 4-mete-tall rock is considered the woman. The two are connected by a large rope. For many years, this spot has been a popular destination to watch the sunrise—especially between May and July when the Sun appears to rise from between the two rocks. It is considered a symbol of love to couples in Japan.
