From the two national treasures - Inuyama castle and the Jo-an tea room - to cormorant fishing on the Kisogawa river, Inuyama has a wealth of important cultural assets. You can also enjoy the old townscape, spread out across the area around the castle. To add to this, the museum at Meijimura and the outdoor museum "Little World" have given the area a feel of a cultural and scholastic theme park.

Inuyama castle
Built in the 6th year of the Tenmon period of the Muromachi era (1537), the castle tower is the oldest such structure of its type remaining in Japan. The castle itself, a national treasure, has survived a turbulent history and is a must-see.

The castle town area
With a layout unchanged since the Edo period, historical structures dating back from that time through to the Showa period line the streets.
