Mont Deus Hida-kuraiyama Rest Area acts as a roadside rest area in other seasons, however during winter, this area transforms into a ski resort! Roadside rest areas, (Michi no Eki in Japanese) are places for drivers, traveling long distances, to rest. Some rest areas, like this one, include shops selling locally grown vegetables and goods. Mont Deus is recommended for family trips and novice skiers in the winter since it has a variety of courses available. The free shuttle bus from Takayama Station runs twice a day (roundtrip) every day. Enjoy skiing while taking in the Takayama sights.
