This tax office was built in the Taisho period (大正時代/たいしょうじだい - Taisho jidai). Because of a movement for preserving the local townscape, the exterior of the building remains as it was. Inside the building, there are some exhibitions about history, water environment and Gujo dance (郡上おどり - Gujo Odori) along with a GujoHachiman's catchphrase, "Water and Dance Castle Town (水とおどりの城下町). The demonstration of Gujo Dance is great to watch and is held 4 times a day.
