Hirayu Onsen (hot spring) is located in the center of the Japanese archipelago, in the Hida mountains at the foot of Mt. Norikuradake. Located at the gateway to Gifu, the Abo tunnel, that connects Gifu and Nagano Prefecture, and is also useful for travelers heading to Kanto. Alongside Fukuchi, Shin-Hirayu, Tochio, and Shin-Hotaka Onsen, Hidayu Onsen is one of the Okuhida Onsen Villages. Nearby there are many famous sightseeing spots such as Hida Takayama, Norikuradake, and Kamikochi. In the Onsen, there is a large bus terminal and there are many drinking and eating establishments along with souvenir shops in the area.
