The Legend of the Injured Samurai Warrior and the Hot Spring Monkey

The 64-meter-high Great Falls of Hirayu is known as one of Japan's hundred best waterfalls. The surrounding area is beautiful throughout the four seasons. The falls are illuminated in the winter and massive, other-worldly columns of ice form as well. The nearby hot springs are famous even among the other popular hot springs of the Hida area due to the legend of a poisoned samurai warrior who was led to a healing hot spring by a helpful monkey.
