One-Day Hot Spring Spas and Free Footbaths

As one of Japan's three great hot springs from the 1600's, Gero Onsen [hot spring], is known as the Beauty Hot Spring. Its waters' effects are said to soften and smooth the skin and Japanese return to it over and over again for those benefits. The surrounding town of Gero exudes feelings of a hot spring town of yesteryear. There is also a particularly popular local dish called ""keichan"", which is stir-fried chicken and vegetables smothered in a special sauce, which can be had at restaurants in the area.
